An eye for an eye will make us all blind

“Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.”
(Proverbs 24:29)

Many of us are quick to want to pay someone back when we feel we have been wronged by them. But if everyone were to get what they deserved because of their deeds, we would all be guilty of doing wrong to someone else and most importantly to God.

In comparison to God who is perfect, we would be rightfully deserving of all the payback in store for us because of our sinfulness towards the creator of all, and the payback for sin is eternal death.

For those in Christ, I pray we would never forget that we were bought at a price for our sins and that we are nothing apart from Christ, therefore vengeance towards others is not ours to give.

“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
(Romans 12:19)
