Imagine you are given a pile of tasks to be finished throughout the week. Now imagine for each task you finished, you were assigned a couple more which also need to be done within the week. Now add the fact that the printer is jamming, the scanner is breaking down, people are mis-communicating your instructions, and other people are requesting your help with other tasks.
You have just stepped into the shoes of my friend in recent weeks. But after telling me about her week, she simply laughed and said, while being challenged she talked with God constantly and said “You really think I can handle all of this God? Alright, then let’s do this!” Mind you she also noted that she was actually spending more time with God in her time of challenge as she had just acquired another prayer partner to add to her morning routine.
What a wonderful example of dependency on Christ for strength even when it seemed like she would completely sink in stress and work from her week. Her positive enthusiasm because of her reliance on God who is all-powerful, almighty, always loving, and in control of everything was a wonderful testimony that has brightened up my week.
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
whose trust is the Lord.
He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream,
and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green,
and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”
(Jeremiah 17:7-8)
May I rely on Christ and His strength for all aspects of the week and life.
